VESA Compatibility: The Information a TV Mount Supplier Needs

A screen-size label alone is not enough to select a mount. The mounting-hole pattern, television weight and installed clearances must be considered together.

Record the mounting-hole pattern

Use the TV manufacturer's documentation to identify the horizontal and vertical spacing of the mounting holes, normally expressed in millimetres. Share the actual pattern with the supplier rather than assuming that all televisions with the same diagonal size use the same interface. Include any unusual rear-panel arrangement or manufacturer-specific requirements.

Confirm weight and the rear layout

Provide the television's stated weight in its mounting configuration and identify the connections on the rear panel. The mount must be evaluated against its stated capacity and interface. A matching hole pattern does not, by itself, confirm capacity, suitable hardware or enough room for connectors.

Consider movement and access

For a moving mount, the TV dimensions matter as well as the hole pattern. Describe the desired tilt, reach or swivel and the available wall space. For a video wall, provide the actual display model and layout. This allows the supplier and installer to review access and potential interference before procurement.

Use a short compatibility checklist

Share the TV make and model when available, weight, VESA pattern, screen dimensions, mounting location and intended movement. If one of these items is unknown, identify it explicitly. Ask for the selected product's drawing and installation instructions before confirming an order. Final installation hardware and structure suitability should be reviewed by the responsible installer.
